NAACP Greensburg-Jeannette Branch The Greensburg/Jeannette Branch National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is a volunteer community-based organization that has been in existence for 61 years. The branch covers Central Westmoreland County. The Mon Valley (Monessen) and Allegheny-Kiski (New Kensington) areas are covered by separate branches. Office hours are by appointment only. The Greensburg/Jeannette Branch NAACP strives to be a resource to the entire community. While the organization membership is primarily African American, we work very closely with all segments of the community to fulfill the mission. Activities include but are not limited to: Collaborating with local community - based on organizations on focus issues. Working with the law enforcement community to help establish better relationships with the minority community. Sponsoring: • youth programs and adult leadership and education activities. • political debates, legislative reviews and voter education forums. • events that promote cultural diversity and cross cultural understanding and communication. • educating the community about African American culture. Investigating complaints of racial discrimination and injustice. Encouraging local businesses to increase minority-hiring in support of the NAACP mission.


All of the work of this NAACP Branch is done solely by members on a volunteer basis through the following committee structure: EDUCATION FINANCE MEMBERSHIP LABOR & INDUSTRY HOUSING FREEDOM FUND LEGAL REDRESS POLITICAL ACTION RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS YOUTH WORKS VETERAN AFFAIRS HEALTH CRIMINAL JUSTICE ECONOMICAL DEVELOPMENT WOMEN IN THE NAACP (WIN) FUNDING The Branch is not for profit organization funded solely by memberships, donations, and fundraising activities. Gifts and donations to the local Branch are not deductible as charitable tax contributions. LEADERSHIP The Officers and Executive Board of the NAACP are elected by the membership every two years. Elections are held on even numbered years at the Annual Meeting of the Branch. Executive Board
